My introduction to Sid was through his wife Jackie. She began working at the National Labor Relations Board in Baltimore around 1977. I was single at the time with two children and living on a limited budget. After Jackie and I became friends I was soon introduced to Sid. I remember the first time that I invited Sid and Jackie to have dinner at my house. I asked Sid if he thought the Gallo Hearty Burgundy or the Gallo Chablis would go better with whatever it was we were having for dinner. After a thoughtful pause, Sid generously told me not to worry about the wine—that they would bring a bottle. Thank you Sid for introducing me to the finer things in life.
