Congratulations, Sid, on your well-deserved 80th birthday. I am proud to count myself among your numerous friends around the world. I count you among the few very exceptional people that I have known combining the art of friendship with cooking, conversation, erudition, and charm. I never forget the sensitive letter that you wrote to me from Shiraz when I was in grips of my post-divorce traumatic syndrome. But more joyfully, I remember the many hours we have spent together in restaurants and your home with the charming and beautiful Jackie, your wife. I wish you long life and much happiness in the years to come. You're an old wine that your friends need to have around.
